The Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays continue their series at the Rogers Centre Tuesday.
The Tampa Bay Rays are not going to sniff the postseason but they can be a big time spoiler. The Rays gave the Blue Jays a fight Monday before falling 7-5 with the pitching falling short. TB starter Jake Odorizzi was charged with four runs on eight hits and three BB with the loss going to Xavier Cedeno with a pair of runs scoring without recording an out. Tampa Bay totaled nine hits and four walks with Logan Forsythe going deep and scoring twice while Brad Miller drove in two and scored.Left hander Drew Smyly guns for his 4th consecutive quality start when he opposes the Blue Jays Tuesday. In his last three, Smyly has gone 1-0with a 0.95 WHIP and 2.37 ERA.

The Toronto Blue Jays are right on the tail of Baltimore for the American League East lead. The Blue Jays had dropped consecutive games before surging ahead late to knock off visiting Tampa Bay on Monday night. Jays starter RA Dickey gave up all four rums on six hits and three free passes through 4.1 innings before the pen came on to restore order. Toronto pounded out 12 hits and walked six times with Edwin Encarnacion going 3-5 with a homer and three RBI’s while Jose Bautista had two hits and drove in in three. Marco Estrada is scheduled to face visiting Tampa Bay for the first time this season on Tuesday night. Estrada has been strong overall with a 7-4 record in 19 starts with a 2.92 ERA.
Tampa Bay are 5-16 in their last 21 road games and are 14-33 in their last 47 overall while the over is 7-1-2 in Smyly’s last 10 road starts. The under is 8-0 in Toronto’s last 8 overall and the over is 6-2 in their last 8 versus the American League East while the Blue Jays are 13-5 in their last 18 games on astroturf. I’m leaning home team but Smyly looks dangerous…
