The Texas Rangers look to stay atop the AL West and build on their home win against the Colorado Rockies yesterday as the two sides meet up again on Thursday.
The Rockies look to keep their wild card hopes alive with a strong close to the season and a win tonight against a very good Texas side could give them some confidence moving forward but they will have their work cut out for them and will need to put up more than six hits if they’re going to do so. Colorado has a very solid roster offensively and are among the league’s best when it comes to runs scored but their rotation always seems to be an issue and this season is no different and until they can land a prize free agent pitcher or develop form within they are going to be plagued by the Coors factor with their own pitchers. Colorado will send Chad Bettis to the mound as he will face off against Lucas Harrell.

The Rangers look to continue their strong season as they gear up for an inevitable playoff run and after a tough way to close out last season you can bet they have a World Series or bust mentality heading into October baseball. The Rangers have a very solid roster and added to it at the trade deadline and their rotation is very strong as well that is led by Cy Young candidate Cole Hamels who is having an exceptional year, this his first full season in Arlington. Harrell will look to move to 4-2 and lower his 3.46 ERA as he will match up with Bettis who is 10-6 but carries a 5.13 mark that is typical of Colorado starters.
The Rockies are 5-2 in their last seven road games, 0-4 in their last four overall, and 11-5 in their last 16 against a righty while the Rangers are 7-0 in their last seven against a team with a losing record, 10-4 in their last 14 Thursday games, and 4-0 in their last four interleague games. The Rockies had been surging and were back in the wild card hunt but now they are falling flat and I expect that to continue here against a solid Rangers side.
