The Chicago White Sox and Miami Marlins begin a three-game series Friday night.
The Chicago White Sox could use a win after losing 10 of their last 14 games. The White Sox have scored 10 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in seven of their last 11 games. The Chicago White Sox offense has been consistent recently, and they’ve won four of their last seven games when scoring more than three runs. Melky Cabrera leads Chicago with 124 hits, Jose Abreu has 61 RBI and Adam Eaton has nine home runs. Carlos Rodon gets the nod, and he’s 2-8 with a 4.49 ERA and 105 strikeouts this season. This will be Rodon’s first career game against the Marlins.

The Miami Marlins could also use a win after losing six of their last nine games. The Marlins have scored nine runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last seven games. The Miami Marlins offense continues to produce, and they’ve won 10 of their last 15 games when scoring more than three runs. Martin Prado leads Miami with 137 hits, Christian Yelich has 67 RBI and Marcell Ozuna has 19 home runs. Andrew Cashner takes the hill, and he’s 4-8 with a 4.96 ERA and 74 strikeouts this season. Cashner is 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA and one strikeout in his career against the White Sox.
The White Sox are 4-12 in their last 16 road games and 4-10 in Rodons last 14 starts. The Marlins are 4-1 in their last 5 games following an off day and 1-5 in their last 6 during game 1 of a series. The White Sox are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.
The Marlins were able to enjoy an off day on Thursday and know they need to keep winning if they're going to hold off other teams in the NL Wild Card. I'm not a big fan of Cashner, but the fish have been decent at home and their offense should be able to tag Rodon just enough.
