I think the Cincinnati Reds have a long way to but they haven’t been a pushover either. That was the case in a hard fought 3-2 defeat at St. Louis Wednesday where the offense never got going. Cinci starter Anthony DeSlcafani fell to 6-1 with all three runs allowed on six hits including a pair of homers. Cincinnati was held to six hits and a base on balls with; Eugenio Suarez slamming his 18th long ball of the season. The Reds hand the ball to Homer Bailey who makes just his third start since coming off the disabled list. Bailey was a 5-3 loser at Pittsburgh last time out with five runs scoring on eight hits over three frames.

The Milwaukee Brewers would like to win as many games as possible and head in to the offseason with some momentum. The Brewers took a positive step in an 11-3 rout of visiting Atlanta in the series finale’ on Thursday. Brew Crew starter Matt Garza evened his record at 4-4 with a pair of runs scoring on seven hits and a trio of BB through six innings. Milwaukee amassed 14 hits and five walks with Chris Carter, Scooter Gennett and Hernan Perez each going deep and combining for six RBI’s and scoring five times. Jimmy Nelson toes the rubber for the 4th time against Cincinnati on Friday night. Nelson has struggled the last three times out with an 0-3 record with a 2.46 WHIP and 9.69 ERA.
The under is 7-3 in Cincinnati’s last 10 road games and the Reds are 21-45 in their last 66 road games while going 17-36 in their last 53 Friday games. Milwaukee are 3-7 in their last 10 Friday games and the under is 6-0-2 in Nelson’s last 8 home starts while the over is 9-4 in Nelson’s last 13 Friday starts. The over is 5-1-2 in the last 8 meetings. I have zero luck backing Nelson and tend to avoid his games…
