The Los Angeles Angels butt heads with the Cleveland Indians Saturday at Progressive Field.
The Los Angeles Angels been struggling to get their arms and bats on the same page and it’s hurt them in the win column. The trend continued with the Angels dropping a 13-3 decision at Cleveland for defeat number eight in a row. LAA starter Tyler Skaggs was charged with seven runs over five frames while four relievers gave up four runs. Los Angeles mustered eight hits with Kole Calhoun going deep and scoring twice while Albert Pujols drove in two. Matt Shoemaker toes the rubber at Progressive Field for his second meeting with the Indians in 2016. Shoemaker comes off a 3-1 loss to Seattle where he gave up all three runs over seven innings.

The Cleveland Indians are not nearly as hot as we saw them earlier in the season so they need a boost in momentum. The Indians could do no wrong Friday with strong performances on the mound and at the plate. Tribe starter Carlos Carrasco allowed all three runs on eight hits while striking out eight over seven innings. Cleveland amassed 17 hits and three BB with Jose Ramirez and Brandon Guyer going a combined 6-9 with homers, seven RBIs and five runs while Jason Kipnis and Francisco Lindor knocked in two runs each. Rookie Mike Clevinger toes the rubber for the 5th time on the year and for the first time versus the Angels. Overall, Clevinger is -1 with a 1.79 WHIP and 6.97 ERA in 20.2 frames.
The Angels are 9-23 in their last 32 road games and are 1-7 in Shoemaker’s last 8 road starts while going 6-14 in Shoemaker’s last 20 starts. Cleveland are 20-8 in their last 28 home games and the over is 7-3-1 in their last 11 overall while the over is 7-3-1 in their last 11 on grass. If the Angels are going to steal a win I think this is it but I’m not betting the Angels right now…
