The Miami Marlins need a win versus the Chicago White Sox Saturday to stay in the Wild Card hunt.
The Chicago White Sox have a lone goal of reaching .500 but they have been struggling. The White Sox had lost seven of ten before knocking off Miami 4-2 on the road on Friday. CWS starter Carlos Rodon improved to 3-8 with a run scoring over six frames. Chicago pounded out 12 hits and walked six times with four different players driving in runs while four scored with every starter but the pitcher reaching base. The White Sox are hoping James Shields can get back in the win column at Miami on Saturday. Shields has struggled the past two times out with 14 runs allowed on 16 hits including four homers over 6.1 innings.

The Miami Marlins haven’t even been a .500 club the past few weeks and that tells me the Wild Card is their only ticket in to the postseason. The Marlins took a step in the wrong direction in Friday night’s defeat. Fish starter Andrew Cashner was hit hard with all four runs given up on nine hits and five bases on balls through five innings while five relievers put up zeros. Miami was held to four hits and four walks with Dee Gordon and JT Realmuto knocking in runs. Miami has scheduled Adam Conley as the starter against the White Sox who he will see for the first time in his career. Conley was hit hard in a 10-7 win at Colorado with six runs scoring on seven hits including a pair of long balls in five frames.
The White Sox are 4-10 in their last 14 overall and are 4-10 in their last 14 games on grass while going 11-27 in their last 38 road games. The over is 6-2 in Miami’s last 8 Saturday games and is 6-2 in their last 8 home games. I’m going with Miami but I won’t play the juice…
