Headed our way Saturday afternoon, we’ve got another installment of this weekend’s MLB series between the Tampa Bay Rays and the New York Yankees from Yankee Stadium.
This will be game two of the set. On Friday, the Yankees were able to post a 6-3 victory.

Matt Andriese will be taking the hill for the Rays on Saturday. Across 20 games (10 starts) and a 6-3 record this year, Andriese has put up a 2.90 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP in 80.2 innings. In his last outing against the Twins, Andriese took the loss on 4.2 innings with six hits and three earned.
The Rays have several interesting hitters at their disposal this year. Evan Longoria is far and away the breakout star on 125 hits with 58 runs, 26 homers and 66 RBI. Brad Miller has managed 98 hits with 52 runs, 20 homers and 48 RBI. Logan Forsythe is sitting on 97 hits with 55 runs and 34 RBI.
Over on the Yankees’ side, we’ll be seeing RHP Masahiro Tanaka on the mound Saturday. Over 23 starts and an 8-4 record this year, Tanaka has logged a 3.32 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP in 146.1 innings. Tanaka put up six innings with six hits and one earned in his last game, a win over the Indians.
The Yankees have a few notable hitters on their roster as well. Didi Gregorius has logged 112 hits with 49 runs, 14 homers and 50 RBI. Starlin Castro has managed 110 hits with 45 runs and 52 RBI of his own. Mark Teixeira put up two hits and two runs in Friday’s game.
The Rays are 4-1 in their last five game twos of a series, and 2-8 in their last 10 Saturday games. Tampa Bay is also 1-4 in Andriese’s last five Saturday starts, and 2-5 in Andriese’s last seven starts overall.
Meanwhile, the Yankees are 0-4 in their last four Saturday games, and 10-1 in Tanaka’s last 11 home starts. New York is also 5-1 in Tanaka’s last six Saturday starts, and 8-2 in Tanaka’s last 10 starts overall.
I like Tanaka in the pitching matchup here, as he’s been throwing well lately. I’ll take the Yankees for the Saturday win.
