The Detroit Tigers continue their visit with the Texas Rangers on Saturday night.
I thought the Detroit Tigers were going to make a run at Cleveland in the American League Central but they have been sidetracked the past week. The Tigers have reached the point where every win is now crucial as the team has to rediscover their offense or the division title will be out of reach and the Wild Card will be as well. The Tigers can either win and be a strong Wild Card contender or hope the main competition slumps which is a lot to hope for. The Tigers turn to Matt Boyd for the game two start at the Rangers on Saturday night. Boyd has won back to back contests and on the year is 3-2 with a 1.31 WHIP and 4.69 ERA.

The Texas Rangers appear to be back on track in the American League West but the next few weeks will be crucial. The Rangers were struggling through a slow period but seemed to have righted the ship and are winning again which means the division crown is their’s for the taking with their fate in their own hands. The Rangers seem to get hitting when needed or score when needed which adds up to a team that is tough to beat. Left hander Cole Hamels is slated to be on the mound Saturday to match up with the Tigers for the second time in 2016. Overall Hamels is 12-3 with a 1.25 WHIP and 2.89 ERA.
The under is 10-3-1 in Detroit’s last 14 road games and is 19-9-1 in their last 29 overall while the Tigers are 1-9 in Boyd’s last 10 road starts. The under is 9-1-2 in Texas last 12 overall and is 9-1-2 in their last 12 on grass while the Rangers are 20-7 in their last 27 Saturday games. I’m going with the hotter team…
