Early Sunday afternoon in MLB activity, we’ve got the series-ender this weekend between the Colorado Rockies and the Philadelphia Phillies.
This will be game three of the set. Philadelphia took Friday’s matchup 10-6, and on Saturday The Phillies made it two in a row with a 6-3 victory.

Taking the hill for the Rockies on Sunday will be RHP Tyler Chatwood. In his 21 starts and 10-7 record this year, Chatwood owns a 3.58 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP in 123.1 innings. In his last start at home against Texas, Chatwood logged a no-decision with 6.2 innings pitched, five hits and two earned.
The Rockies have some nice numbers with their hitters. Charlie Blackmon has hit 135 times with 76 runs, 18 homers and 57 RBI. Carlos Gonzalez has put up 136 hits with 72 runs, 23 homers and 79 RBI. DJ LeMahieu sits on 135 hits with 74 runs and 42 RBI.
Over on the Phillies’ side, we’ll be seeing southpaw Adam Morgan on the mound Sunday. In his 14 games (12 starts) so far this year, Morgan owns a 6.65 ERA with a 1.60 WHIP in 66.1 innings of work overall. In his last start, Morgan went five innings in Colorado for a loss on nine hits and six earned runs.
Philadelphia has some solid hitters on their side as well. Odubel Herrera has 121 hits with 63 runs, 12 homers and 40 RBI. Cesar Hernandez sits on 114 hits with 46 runs and 27 RBI. Maikel Franco has hit 105 times with 49 runs, 21 homers and 68 RBI.
The Rockies are 1-5 in their last six Sunday games, and 9-1 in Chatswood’s last 10 road starts. Colorado is also 5-2 in Chatswood’s last seven Sunday starts and 4-1 in Chatswood’s last five road starts versus a team with a losing record.
As for the Phillies, they’re 6-0 in their last six home games versus a team with a losing road record and 5-0 in their last five home games against a team with a losing record. Philadelphia is also 14-5 in their last 20 against a team with a losing record.
I like Chatwood here, and I think he’ll be able to thwart the Phillies offense. I’ll take Colorado for the series-ending win.
