The Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers continue their series at Comerica Park on Wednesday.
The Kansas City Royals looked dead in the water a few short weeks ago but have suddenly gotten hot and if they stay that way, challenging for the Wild Card is not out of the question. The Royals stayed hot with 6-1 victory at Detroit got their 8th win in eleven contests. KC starter Danny Duffy upped his record to 10-1 with a run scored over 7.2 frames. Kansas City mustered six hits with Alex Gordon, Raul Mondesi, Kendrys Morales and Eric Hosmer clubbing long balls. The Royals give Wednesday’s start to Yordano Ventura who sees Detroit for the 4th time in 2016. Ventura has been rock solid the past three times out with a 2-0 record and 2.89 ERA.

The Detroit Tigers have been fading a bit the past few weeks which means they have to be careful in guarding their Wild Card position. The Tigers had lost six of eight before falling to the Royals Tuesday at home where nothing went in their favor. Detroit starter Justin Verlander fell to 12-7 with five runs allowed (three earned) on four hits including three homers through seven innings. The Tigers managed three hits and a pair of bases of balls with Ja0rrod Saltalamacchia smacking his 11th long ball. Anibal Sanchez draws the start versus the Tigers on Wednesday. Sanchez struggled last time out in an 8-5 loss at the Rangers with all eight runs allowed on eight hits including four homers in four frames.
The under is 12-4 in Kansas City’s last 16 overall and is 9-3 in their last 12 on grass while going 7-3 in their last 10 road games. Detroit are 2-6 in their last 8 overall and 2-6 in their last 8 games on grass while going 7-3 in their last 10 home games. Detroit are 6-2 in Sanchez’s last 8 starts versus Kansas City and the over is 6-2 in Ventura’s last 8 starts versus Detroit. I’m just going with the hotter squad…
