The Atlanta Braves battle the Washington Nationals in Sunday afternoon action.
The Washington Nationals are slowly moving towards the National League East crown if they can avoid a total collapse. The Nationals built a big lead at Turner Field Saturday then held on to beat the Braves 11-9. Nats starter improved to 13-7 with four runs scoring over 6.1 frames with the pen allowing five runs. Washington pounded out 17 hits and waked three times with Daniel Murphy, Ryan Zimmerman and Trea Turner each going deep with six RBI’s and four runs. Max Scherzer knocked in two and Anthony Rendon scored three time. Left hander Gio Gonzalez gets the ball to oppose the Braves for the second time in 2016. Gonzalez is either on or off and It was the latter in a 6-2 loss at Colorado with a pair of runs allowed over three innings.

The Atlanta Braves can be a thorn in the side of any team but they are struggling right now. Bravos starter Tyrell Jenkins was charged with nine runs on eight h/its including three long balls through 3.1 innings to fall to 2-4 and raise his ERA above six. Atlanta logged 12 hits with Chase d’Arnaud and Adonis Garcia combining for five RBI’s while every player but one reached base.Rookie Joel De La Rosa draws his 7th start of the season and first ever versus the Nationals. De La Rosa dropped a 4-2 decision to visiting Minnesota last time out despite giving up one run in 5.2 frames.
