City Royals open an interleague series at the Boston Red Sox on Friday.
The Kansas City Royals have suddenly gotten hot and have thrust themselves back in to the playoff picture. After having their nine game winning streak snapped , the Royals got right back in the win column with a 5-2 victory at Toronto on Thursday. Kansas City starter Edinson Volquez picked up the win with a pair of unearned runs plated over five frames. KC totaled seven hits and three walks with Alcides Escobar going deep with two runs knocked in and two scored. Kansas City gives the series opening start to Ian Kennedy who has seen Boston once on the season. Over his last five starts, Kennedy has allowed three runs over 34 innings.
