The Tampa Bay Rays visit Fenway Park looking to slow the playoff drive of the Boston Red Sox.
The Tampa Bay Rays have been great spoilers the past two weeks with five of their wins against playoff contenders. Spoiling wasn’t on the menu Monday in a 9-4 loss at Fenway Park as Rays starter Matt Andriese charged with seven runs on ten hits over four frames to absorb the defeat. TB totaled eight hits and a base on balls with Evan Longoria driving in two while Bobby Wilson drove in a run and scored. Tampa Bay kicks off heir series with Boston with Jake Odorizzi on the hill Monday. Odorizzi has been a steady member in the rotation with a 9-5 record with a 1.21 WHIP and 3.53 ERA.

The Boston Red Sox are second in the American League East but they haven’t been winning. The Red Sox had not been looking good with losses in four of five before exploding for an easy win against visiting Tampa Bay. Red Sox starter Rick Porcello came up big with three runs scoring on six hits through seven innings. Boston pounded out 14 hits with Mookie Betts going deep with two RBI’s and two runs while Brock Holt, Chris Young and Sandy Leon drove in two runs apiece. Left hander Drew Pomeranz has been throwing the ball very well over his last three. Pomeranz has gone 3-2 in this stretch with a 1.02 WHIP and 2.41 although he hasn’t gotten great support.
Tampa Bay are 7-21 in their last 28 road games and are 7-20 in their last 27 games on grass while the over is 20-8 in their last 28 overall. Boston are 9-4 in their last 13 games on grass and the under is 28-13 in the last 41 meetings in Boston. This might be better to watch but for better odds I’ll take Odorizzi…
