The Detroit Tigers and the Kansas City Royals will be meeting at Kauffman Stadium on Friday to get their weekend MLB series going.
Detroit played the White Sox this week, and took all three games by a combined six runs.

As for the Royals, they took on the Yankees in their last series, winning the first game but dropping the final two and the series.
The Tigers will be starting RHP Anibal Sanchez on Friday. In his 30 games (22 starts) and 7-13 record, Sanchez holds a 5.92 ERA with a 1.47 WHIP in 132.1 innings. Sanchez logged a loss in his last appearance, going 5.2 innings with eight hits and five runs against the Angels.
You don’t have to look too hard to find hitters in Detroit’s order. Miguel Cabrera leads the way on 151 hits with 72 runs, 28 homers and 81 RBI. Ian Kindler has hit 145 times with 97 runs, 24 homers and 70 RBI. Victor Martinez is sitting on 140 hits with 55 runs, 23 homers and 75 RBI.
Over on the Royals’ side, we’ll be seeing lefty Danny Duffy in the starting role. Over 36 games (20 starts) and an 11-2 record, Duffy holds a 3.01 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP in 143.2 innings. Duffy took a loss to the Red Sox his last time out, going five innings with nine hits and seven earned.
The Royals have a few big hitters in their order. Alcides Escobar has bashed 142 hits with 48 runs and 43 RBI. Eric Hosmer sits on 137 hits with 65 runs, 19 homers and 80 RBI. Lorenzo Cain has bagged 113 hits with 55 runs and 56 RBI so far.
The Tigers are 5-0 in their last five road games, and 4-0 in their last four game ones of a series. Detroit is also 8-2 in their last 10 overall and 7-20 in Sanchez’s last 27 starts.
Meanwhile, the Royals are 6-0 in their last six game ones of a series, and 5-1 in their last six games following a loss. Kansas City is also 16-5 in their last 21 overall, and 48-23 in their last 71 home games.
Duffy pitches well against the AL Central, and KC has been playing well as a team lately. I’ll take the Royals here.
