The Miami Marlins continue their visit with the Cleveland Indians in Saturday action.
The Miami Marlins are still clinging to postseason hopes but a poor week has them in third in the National League East. The Marlins stayed in their current funk with defeats in five of six after a 6-2 loss at Cleveland. Fish starter Andrew Cashner was charged with all six runs on six hits and six BB over six frames. Miami managed eight hits and a walk with JT Realmuto going 3-4 with homer and a pair of RBI’s. The Marlins give Saturday’s start to ace Jose Fernandez who sees Cleveland for the first time since 2013. Fernandez has not allowed a run in two starts covering 13 innings.

The Cleveland Indians are trying to hold off the Tigers for their first American League Central title in forever. The Indians held serve for another day with Friday’s win to give the team four consecutive victories. Tribe starter Carlos Carrasco came up big with six hits and eleven strikeouts through 7.1 innings. The Indians totaled seven hits and eight walks with Abraham Almonte knocking in two while Jose Ramirez drove in a run and scored. Trevor Bauer toes the rubber against the visiting Marlins for the first time in his career. Bauer did not get a decision in a 1-0 win versus Minnesota where he tossed six scoreless frames.
The under is 9-3 in Miami’s last 12 on grass and is 9-3 in their last 12 overall while the Marlins are 2-6 in their last 8 interleague games. Cleveland are 9-2 in their last 11 interleague games and the over is 7-2 in their last 9 interleague home games while going 8-3 in their last 11 interleague games. The under is 7-2-2 in the last 11 meetings. No edge to exploit but I’ll go with the hotter home team…
