The Toronto Blue Jays have been hot the past week or so but their lead isn’t big so they can’t afford losing streaks. The Blue Jays were cooled off for a night in an 8-3 loss at Tropicana Field where neither the arms or bats came through. Jays starter Marcus Stroman dropped to 9-6 with four runs scored (three earned)before two relievers gave up four more runs. Toronto posted six hits and walked four times with Edwin Encarnacion driving in a run and scoring while Josh Donaldson scored twice. The Blue Jays hand the ball to Marcus Stroman for Saturday’s start at Tropicana Field. On the season, Stroman has gone 9-5 in 26 starts with a 4.58 ERA over 167 innings.

The Tampa Bay Rays seemed to be destined to finish in the American League East. The Rays played spoilers Friday night against visiting Toronto behind great work on the mound and at the plate. TB starter Alex Cobb looked good coming off the disabled list with two runs scoring over five innings while five relievers saw action. The Rays produced eight hits and three walks with Brad Miller, Luke Malle and Logan Morrison going deep and driving in six runs. Tampa Bay is slated to send Chris Archer to the hill for his 4th star of the year against Toronto. Archer has looked good the past three times out with a 2-1 record and 1.86 ERA.
