For Wednesday’s game, the Phillies will be bringing out RHP Jeremy Hellickson. Across 27 starts and a 10-8 record this year, Hellickson has produced a 3.88 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP in 160 innings. In a no-decision his last time out, Hellickson put up six innings with five hits and four earned against the Braves.
The Phillies have a few notable hitters on their roster. Odubel Herrera has hit 140 times with 71 runs and 42 RBI. Cesar Hernandez has hit 131 times with 53 runs and 36 RBI. Maikel Franco holds 124 hits and 55 runs to go along with 22 homers and 73 RBI.
Over on the Marlins’ side, we’ll be seeing RHP Andrew Cashner on Wednesday. In his 23 games (22 starts) and 4-11 record, Cashner owns a 5.00 ERA with a 1.48 WHIP in 111.2 innings. Taking a loss against Cleveland last time out, Cashner put up five innings with six hits and six runs.
Miami has some nice bats in their lineup. Martin Prado has hit 165 times with 63 runs and 63 RBI. Christian Yelich sits on 151 hits with 71 runs and 85 RBI. Marcell Ozuna has hit 131 times with 64 RBI, 22 homers and 67 RBI.
The Phillies are 4-0 in Hellickson’s last four starts in game three of a series, and 6-0 in Hellickson’s last six starts with four days’ rest. Philadelphia is also 6-1 in Hellickson’s last seven Wednesday starts, and 5-1 in Hellickson’s last six road starts.
As for the Marlins, they’re 1-4 in their last five Wednesday games, and 0-4 in their last four game threes of a series. Miami is also 0-5 in Cashner’s last five starts, and 0-5 in Cashner’s last five starts on grass.
I’m going to go with the trends here and take the Phillies and Hellickson for the victory on Wednesday.
