The Houston Astros look to wake the bats up as they continue their interleague set against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday.
The Cubs’ season of dominance continued on Friday night as they were the first team in the majors to win 90 games and they will look to add to here against the Astros on Saturday afternoon as they will send John Lackey to the mound to face off with Colin McHugh. The Cubs are the deepest team in baseball and look like an absolute force right now as they have won seven of their last 10 games and are beating teams in a number of different ways as they can win the slug fests as well as the pitcher’s duels and this one is shaping up for the former as both Lackey and McHugh can give up the long ball.

The Astros meanwhile continue their pursuit of an AL wild card spot and a victory today against a World Seris favourite could give them some confidence moving forward as they know they can compete with some of the best teams in the league. The Astros were expected by many to be a World Series threat this season and while they have the pieces in place to be a championship side they haven’t shown on a consistent enough basis they belong with the league’s elite and have some work to do if they’re going to make the postseason.
The Cubs are 6-0 in their last six interleague games, 37-15 in their last 52 overall, and 1-4 in their last five road games while the Astros are 13-6 in their last 19 overall, 5-1 in their last six home games, and 27-8 in their last 35 home starts by McHugh. The Cubs are the better team but the Astros are the more desperate team and I think with Lackey on the mound this is the best chance for the home side to get a win.
