The San Francisco Giants look to build on their ridiculous 19-hit effort on the road last night against the Arizona Diamondbacks when they meet up again on Sunday.
The Giants are in hot pursuit of the Los Angeles Dodgers for the NL West division crown as they currently sit four games back of their arch rivals and they could potentially trim that number down with a big outing on Sunday. The Giants are starting to come back to life after what has been a disappointing second half of the season and as it stands right now they are just a single game up on the Cardinals for the top spot in the NL wild card hunt and not much more than that on a handful of teams vying for the ever important postseason positions. San Fran will send Matt Moore to the mound here as he looks to improve on his 9-11 record and lower his 4.14 ERA as he will take on Zack Greinke who is 12-5 with a 4.54 mark but is always capable of tossing a gem.

The Diamondbacks have had a tough season after getting a ton of hype this spring and they will fall well short of the playoffs in what can only be described as a disastrous campaign for them. However, the Snakes do have a very good roster and will be back in the mix as early as next season as they will get AJ Pollock back for a full year and he can certainly make a difference and spark an offense that hasn’t been living up to expectation this season.
The Giants are 9-19 in their last 28 road games, 1-4 in their last five Sunday games, and 3-14 in their last 44 against the NL West, while the Diamondbacks are 0-4 in their last four overall, 2-6 in their last eight home games against a team with a winning record, and 11-4 in Greinke’s last 15 starts. This is a tough one to call as Moore has been up and down since coming over from the Rays but despite a 12 win season so far from Greinke his ERA is a huge concern. Give me the better team on the road.
