The Line: Los Angeles Angels -105 / Seattle Mariners -105 --- Over/Under: 8.5 See the Latest Odds
The Seattle Mariners look to keep pace in the AL wild card race as they continue their series on the road against the Los Angeles Angels.
The Mariners look to add another to the win column as they send Hisashi Iwakuma to mound on Wednesday night as he will face off against Tyler Skaggs in another must win type game for the road team. Seattle has been in the running for most of the season and remain a top end team in the American League but thanks to a strong campaign from the Texas Rangers they are well back of their goal of winning the AL West but remain a threat to be a playoff team nonetheless. The M’s are 6-0 in their last six games overall and 17-5 in their last 22 road starts against a team with a losing record which is exactly where they find themselves here against the Angels who have been very good at home of late.

The Angels are 8-3 in their last 11 games against a right handed starter and are 6-1 in their last seven games during game three of a series and while they are likely to fall well short of a playoff spot they are still having a pretty productive season at the plate and if they can add in a piece or two in the offseason they could get right back in the fold next year. Los Angeles will turn to Skaggs here who is 3-3 with a 4.13 ERA and while he has had some shaky outings remains a pretty solid option on the hill and should be able to go pitch for pitch with Iwakuma who is 15-11 with a 3.96 mark.
The M’s are 1-4 in Iwakuma’s last five starts, 4-0 in their last four against a team with a losing record, and 6-2 in Iwakuma’s last eight on four days rest while the Angels are 2-6 in Skaggs’ last eight starts, 1-5 in their last six overall, and 2-5 in their last seven against a team with a winning record. This is Seattle’s most important series to date and they need to keep winning to keep pace in the AL wild card picture.
