For Wednesday’s game, the Dodgers will be bringing out lefty Clayton Kershaw. In his 17 starts and 11-3 record this year, Kershaw owns a 1.89 ERA with a 0.75 WHIP in 124 innings. Kershaw lasted just three innings in Miami his last time out, allowing five hits and two runs for a loss.
The Dodgers have a few notable hitters on their roster. Corey Seager has bagged 178 hits with 95 runs, 25 homers and 69 RBI. Adrian Gonzalez sits on 149 hits with 62 runs and 79 RBI. Howie Kendrick has hit 116 times with 61 runs and 36 RBI.
Over on the Yankees’ side, we’ll be seeing RHP Michael Pineda on Wednesday. In 28 starts with a 6-11 record so far, Pineda has a 5.07 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP in 156.1 innings. Pineda put up 4.2 innings against the Rays his last time out, allowing six hits and two earned for a no-decision.
New York has some pretty solid hitters on their top end as well. Starlin Castro has hit 146 hits with 61 runs, 21 homers and 67 RBI. Didi Gregorius has bagged 137 hits with 63 runs and 65 RBI. Jacoby Ellsbury is sitting on 133 hits with 65 runs and 52 RBI.
The Dodgers are 4-1 in their last five game threes of a series, and 4-1 in their last five Wednesday games. Los Angeles is also 4-0 in Kershaw’s last four Wednesday starts, and 55-20 in Kershaw’s last 75 starts overall.
As for New York, they’re 4-0 in their last four game threes of a series, and 5-1 in their last six Wednesday games. The Yankees are also 5-1 in PIneda’s last six starts with four days’ rest, and 5-2 in Pineda’s last seven home starts.
If Kershaw comes out and pitches the way he’s capable of pitching, the Dodgers will be in position to get a big victory here. I’ll take Los Angeles.
