The Baltimore Orioles continue their playoff chase with the Tampa Bay Rays in town Saturday.
Although it is too late to make a difference in the standings, the Tampa Bay Rays are playing well. The Rays had won four of five before their pen let them down in a 5-4 defeat at Camden Yards. TB starter Chris Archer gave up three runs on seven hits over 6.1 frames before Brad Boxberger allowed two runs to get the loss. Tampa Bay managed ten hits with Evan Longoria smacking a two run bomb while Richie Schaffer clubbed another two run homer. Matt Andriese draws Saturday’s start at Baltimore shooting for back to back wins. Andriese comes off of a 4-2 victory at the Yankees with a run given up on six hits over five innings.

The Baltimore Orioles have been winning series and are trying to chase down the Red Sox for the AL East lead. The Orioles stayed in the postseason race thanks to some late offense and just enough pitching. O’s starter Ubaldo Jimenez was charged with all four runs on seven hits including a pair of homers through seven innings. The Birds mustered nine hits and walked three times with Pedro Alvarez and Chris Davis going solo with JJ Hardy driving in a run and scoring. Chris Tillman toes the rubber against Tampa Bay for the 5th time this season on Saturday. Tillman came off the DL to defeat Detroit 3-1 on the road with a run allowed on four hits in six frames.
The over is 11-3 in Tampa Bay’s last 14 on grass and is 29-10 in their last 39 overall while the Rays are 4-11 in their last 15 Saturday games. The under is 21-5 in Baltimore’s last 26 home games and is 37-15 in their last 52 on grass while going 41-20 in their last 61 overall. Tampa Bay are 1-7 in the last 8 meetings in Baltimore and are 3-9 in the last 12 meetings. I’ll back the desperate Orioles and their ace…
