The Chicago White Sox look to build on their late game surge over the Kansas City Royals last night as the two sides meet up again on Saturday.
The White Sox got a complete game victory out of their ace Chris Sale last night as their season continues to wind down, and while Sale did scatter four earned runs in what was a 7-4 victory for the South Siders but he was dominant on the mound and certainly proved his worth as the team’s go to guy despite being a headache to those in the front office. Chicago will look to keep it rolling here as they continue their series with the defending champions who have looked like anything but over the last couple of weeks as they have played their way out of a playoff picture and will likely fall short of a wild card spot. Chicago will send Miguel Gonzalez to the hill here as he will face off against Jason Vargas in a game that the public is currently hammering the home side on in the early stages.

Royals have lost four games in a row and don’t have a lot to hang their hats on right now as they couldn’t seal the deal with what was once a top end bullpen but Kelvin Herrera got blown up last night and gave up the go ahead three run homer. KC hasn’t been great since opening day this season and while they did go on a surge just after the all-star break and looked like they were going make a push for a playoff spot but recently they have taken a turn for the worse and look like their bid to repeat will be futile.
The White Sox are 16-35 in their last 51 road games, 1-4 in Gonzalez’ last five road starts, and 9-4 in their last 13 against a lefty while the Royals are 5-0 in Vargas’ last five home starts, 6-1 in his last seven overall, but 0-5 as a team in their last five home games. Chicago stole the momentum last night and I think they keep it going here in a pitching matchup that doesn’t look great for either side.
