The Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds collide at Great American Ball Park Sunday.
The Pittsburgh Pirates are simply trying to finish the season with a winning record. After a 10-4 rout of Cincinnati in game one of their doubleheader the Pirates have won four of five. Jameson Tailson gave up three runs on eight hits over five frames which was good enough to get the win. The Buccos banged out eleven hits with Sean Rodriguez going deep and driving in two while Andrew McCutchen knocked in three and scored twice. Ivan Nova is scheduled to be on the mound for 9th time as a member of the Pirates. Nova defeated Philadelphia 5-3 last time out with two runs allowed (one earned) over six innings.

The season has long been over for the Cincinnati Reds but that was to be expected for a rebuilding club. The Reds have now dropped three in a row heading in to the night cap of their doubleheader.Cincy starter Anthony DeSclafani was charged with six runs (four earned) on six hits and three walks through four innings with two relievers allowing three runs. Cincinnati’s ten hit, two walk attack wasn’t enough with Adam Duvall cracking a three run homer while Joe Peraza drove in a run and scored. Dan Straily will get the ball to oppose the Pirates for the 5th time this season on Sunday. Straily comes off of a 6-4 win versus the Brewers with a pair of runs scoring on solo jacks in eight frames.
Pittsburgh are 5-13 in their last 18 overall and are 5-13 in their last 18 games on grass while going 11-5 in their last 16 road games. Cincinnati are 2-6 in their last 8 home games and are 14-39 in their last 53 Sunday games while the under is 11-5 in their last 16 overall. The under is 10-4-1 in their last 15 meetings. I’m backing the hotter pitcher but he has never been this hot…
