Over at Oriole Park on Tuesday, the Boston Red Sox and the Baltimore Orioles will be continuing their early-week MLB series.
On Monday in the series opener, Boston snagged a 5-2 win, with three runs coming in the fifth and two more in the third.

Pitching for the Red Sox on Tuesday will be lefty Eduardo Rodriguez. In his 17 starts and 2-7 record this year, Rodriguez holds a 4.98 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP in 90.1 innings. Rodriguez took a no-decision against the Yankees his last time out with 2.1 innings, eight hits and four earned.
Boston has loads of capable hitters in their lineup. Mookie Betts sits on 198 hits with 113 runs, 31 homers and 108 RBI. Dustin Pedroia has logged 191 hits with 99 runs and 67 RBI. Xander Bogaerts holds 181 hits with 111 runs, 20 homers and 88 RBI.
Over on the Orioles’ side, we’ll be seeing righty Kevin Gausman. Over his 27 starts and 8-10 record, Gausman owns a 3.43 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP in 160 innings. In Boston his last time up, Gausman logged eight innings with four hits and no earned for a win.
Baltimore doesn’t slouch at the plate, either. Manny Machado leads the way on 179 hits with 36 homers, 93 RBI and 102 runs. Adam Jones has hit 157 times with 84 runs, 28 homers and 81 RBI. Jonathan Schoop has hit 153 times with 78 runs, 24 homers and 77 RBI.
The Red Sox are 8-3 in their last 11 game twos of a series, and 4-0 in Rodriguez’s last four Tuesday starts. Boston is also 3-7 in Rodriguez’s last 10 starts with four days’ rest, and 4-10 in Rodriguez’s last 14 starts.
As for the Orioles, they’re 6-0 in their last six game twos of a series, and 4-0 in their last four Tuesday games. Baltimore is also 4-9 in their last 13 games versus a left-handed starter, and 7-0 in Gausman’s last seven home starts.
I’d like to pick the Red Sox here, but with Gausman on the mound I’m hesitant. I’ll reluctantly take Baltimore in what should be a close game.
