Progressive Field and the Cleveland Indians host the rival Kansas City Royals Tuesday.
The Kansas City Royals have not been mathematically eliminated from the postseason but time is very quickly running out. The Royals made the most of a make up game by waffling the White Sox on Monday afternoon by an 8-3 count. KC starter has been all over the map this year but he was spot on with a complete game effort with a pair of homers allowed. Kansas City racked up 12 hits with Paulo Orlando and Alcides Escobar going solo while Kendrys Morales clubbed a three run homer. Eric Hosmer drove in two runs and scored while Billy Burns and Whit Merrifield scored two runs apiece. Kansas City is scheduled to begin the series at Cleveland with Edinson Volquez on the mound. Volquez has been in a bit of a funk lately with 20 runs allowed on 32 hits over 18.1 innings.

The Cleveland Indians are likely looking at their lineup and figuring out the best team to field in the playoffs. The Indians are coming off of a p-5 defeat to visiting Detroit where the work on the mound failed them. Tribe starter Trevor Bauer fell to 11-8 with six runs scoring on ten hits through 5.2 innings before Joseph Colon gave up three more. Cleveland totaled seven hits and a free pass with Carlos Santana going deep and scoring twice while Brandon Guyer drove in a run and scored. Josh Tomlin shoots for consecutive victories when he toes the rubber versus Kansas City. Tomlin comes off a 6-1 win at the White Sox with the lone run plated on four hits in six frames.
The over is 7-1-1 in Kansas City’s last 9 road games and the Royals are 12-4 in their last 16 road games while the over is 19-7-2 in their last 28 overall. Cleveland are 37-14 in their last 51 home games and the over is 19-6-1 in Tomlin’s last 26 home starts while the Indians are 25-10 in Tomlin’s last 35 starts. The over is 10-4-1 in Tomlin’s last 15 starts versus Kansas City. The trends heavily favor the over but things are hard to predict with all the call ups playing…
