The Line: Colorado Rockies +130 / St. Louis Cardinals -140 --- Over/Under: 12.5 See the Latest Odds
The Colorado Rockies and St. Louis Cardinals played to another slugfest last night and will face off again on Wednesday at Coors Field.
The Cardinals doubled up by a 10-5 final on the road against the Rockies yesterday and will look to keep their road success afloat in an afternoon encounter here, and with a win the Cards will net their 11th in their last 15 against the NL West. St. Louis continues to produce wins year in and year out and this season is no different and while they are light years behind the MLB best Cubs in the NL Central, and they have been woeful to watch at home this season they are still in the hunt for a wild card spot and if the season ended today they could be hosting a wild card game. They will send Luke Weaver to the mound here as he looks for his second win of the season and will be out to lower his impressive 3.21 ERA as he will face off against the recordless German Marquez who is 0-0 with a 5.07 ERA.

The Rockies bats stayed hot as they have all season long last night and they scored five runs in a losing effort, but their pitching remains an issue as they allowed the Cards to connect on 14 hits and 10 runs which is a microcosm of the Rockies’ season. Colorado will be a tough team to slug it out with over the next couple of seasons as they have a core of big time bats and if they can add a piece in the offseason or perhaps yield a solid return for Carlos Gonzalez they should be in the mix in the NL West in terms of offense. However, they need a top end pitcher who can come in and serve as the skeleton for a Rockies rotation that has some promise but until they do so they are going to continue to get shelled and I expect more of the same here.
St. Louis is 5-2 in their last seven road starts against a righty and 7-3 in their last 10 Wednesday games while the Rockies are 4-1 in their last five home games, and 11-28 in their last 39 against the NL Central. The Cards need to keep winning and with the bats doing a ton of damage I think they get it done again here.
