New York Mets vs. Atlanta Braves - 9/21/16 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Ryan Weber will be hitting the mound for the Braves on Wednesday. In his 15 games, one start and 1-1 record, Weber owns a 5.46 ERA with a 1.44 WHIP in 31.1 innings. In his last start back on September 5, Weber bagged a loss with three innings, six hits and five earned.

It’s pretty easy to find the key guys in the Braves’ order. Freddie Freeman has hit 168 times with 93 runs, 31 homers and 83 RBI. Nick Markakis holds 155 hits with 63 runs and 87 RBI. Ender Inciarte has hit 144 times with 77 runs and 28 RBI.

On the Mets’ side, we’ll be getting another look at veteran Bartolo Colon on Wednesday. In his 31 games (30 starts) and 14-7 record, Colon holds a 3.14 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP in 177.2 innings. In his last start against the Twins, Colon put up a win with seven innings, three hits and no earned.

The Mets have a few noteworthy hitters of their own. Asdrubal Cabrera sits on 133 hits with 60 runs, 20 homers and 50 RBI. Yoenis Cespedes has hit 125 times with 30 homers, 81 RBI and 65 runs. Curtis Grandson sits on 115 hits with 76 runs, 28 homers and 52 RBI.

The Braves are 21-46 in their last 67 game threes of a series, and 1-5 in their last six Wednesday games. Atlanta is also 1-5 in Weber’s last six starts against the NL East, and 1-5 in Weber’s last six starts overall.

As for the Mets, they’re 5-1 in their last six game threes of a series, and 2-7 in their last nine Wednesday games. New York is also 5-1 in Colon’s last six starts, and 8-2 in Colon’s last 10 home starts.

I like Colon a lot in the pitching matchup here, and I think he’s got the juice to provide the Mets with a victory in this one.
