The Houston Astros look to remain hot after winning six of their last seven games. The Astros have scored 12 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in five of their last 10 games. The Houston Astros offense has been hit or miss lately, but they’ve won seven of their last 10 games when scoring more than three runs. Jose Altuve leads Houston with 202 hits, George Springer has 78 RBI and Carlos Correa has 20 home runs. Mike Fiers takes the hill, and he’s 11-7 with a 4.46 ERA and 120 strikeouts this season. Fiers is 1-1 with a 5.92 ERA and 14 strikeouts in his career against the Angels.
The Angels are 8-22 in their last 30 during game 1 of a series and 2-7 in Nolascos last 9 starts. The Astros are 23-48 in their last 71 Thursday games and 5-1 in Fiers' last 6 starts. The Angels are 5-17 in the last 22 meetings in Houston and 5-16 in the last 21 meetings overall.
I fade Nolasco as often as I can, as the guy is simply not a good pitcher. That's not changing here with the Astros at home and fighting for a playoff spot. Also, Fiers has been pretty solid as of late, which includes giving Houston six scorless innings in his last start. Give me the Astros and the RL to increase the value of the bet.
