Over at Oriole Park on Friday, the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Baltimore Orioles will be opening up their MLB weekend series.
The Diamondbacks just finished up a three-game set against the Padres. Arizona lost the first two games but eked out a win in the finale 3-2.

As for the Orioles, they tangled with the Red Sox this week. Baltimore dropped the first three games, and in Thursday’s finale, Boston won again 5-3.
Taking the mound for the Diamondbacks on Friday will be RHP Shelby MIller. Over 18 starts and a 2-12 record, Miller owns a 6.90 ERA with a 1.74 WHIP in 90 innings. Miller put up a loss in his last start with 5.1 innings against LA on seven hits and four earned.
It’s not too hard to find the key hitters in the Diamondbacks’ order. Jean Segura has put up 191 hits with 91 runs, 17 homers and 59 RBI. Paul Goldschmidt has logged 162 hits with 100 runs, 23 homers and 90 RBI. Yasmani Tomas has hit 136 times with 69 runs, 29 homers and 75 RBI.
Over on the Orioles’ side, we’ll be seeing RHP Yovani Gallardo in the starting role Friday. In his 21 starts and 5-8 record this year, Gallardo holds a 5.77 ERA with a 1.63 WHIP in 106 innings. Gallardo logged a loss his last time out, giving up seven hits and six earned in 3.1 innings against the Rays.
The Orioles have some nice bats as well. Manny Machado has hit 181 times with 103 runs, 36 homers and 93 RBI. Adam Jones is right there with 158 hits, 84 runs 28 homers and 82 RBI. Jonathan Schoop has bagged 156 hits with 80 runs, 24 homers and 77 RBI.
The Diamondbacks are 3-7 in their last 10 games following an off day, and 1-5 in their last six road games. Arizona is also 2-10 in their last 12 Friday games, and 1-6 in Miller’s last seven starts.
As for the Orioles, they’re 4-1 in their last five interleague games, and 40-19 in their last 59 interleague home games. Baltimore is also 0-4 in their last four game ones of a series, and 1-6 in Gallardo’s last seven starts.
There’s not a whole lot to get excited about in this game, but I think Gallardo should be able to tame the Diamondbacks here. Give me Baltimore.
