The Cincinnati Reds look for another big outing at the plate as they face off against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.
The Reds got a huge game out of Joey Votto yesterday and will look to build on a big victory as they continue their series with the Brewers here as they will send left hander Brandon Finnegan to the mound who will be out to give the Reds just their third victory in their last 11 games as he will take on Wily Peralta. The Reds haven’t had a great season overall and this 2-8 stretch in their last 10 games isn’t helping matters as they are 63-90 this season and well back of the NL wild card race, but the moves they made at the trade deadline has put them in a good position to be competitive very soon and one of their future cornerstones in Finnegan gets the ball here.

The Brewers meanwhile are six games better than the Reds in the standings and have had more consistency in their game across the balance of the season but they are in rough shape in terms of their future outlook and may be in a rebuilding mode for a little while. The Brewers sent away Jonathan Lucroy at the trade deadline as he is now with the AL West leading Texas Rangers, and while they still have Ryan Braun leading the charge offensively, it seems like his contract is becoming much more of a headache for them and he could be moved in the offseason.
The Reds are 1-7 in their last eight against a righty, 1-4 in Finnegan’s last five starts, and 1-4 in their last five overall while the Brewers are 5-1 in their last six Sunday games, 14-3 in their last 17 home games against a lefty, and 5-1 in Peralta’s last six during game three of a series. The Reds haven’t been good of late but they were great last night and with Finnegan going here they are worth a look once again.
