The Line: San Diego Padres / San Francisco Giants --- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The San Francisco Giants look to keep pace in the NL West and the wild card race as they take on the San Diego Padres on Sunday.
The Giants has their bets pitcher in Madison Bumgarner on the hill last night and while he surrendered three home runs for the first time this year they Giants netted a big 9-6 win but they failed to make up ground on the Dodgers who obliterated the Rockies by a 14-1 score. San Francisco has been woeful since their first half surge and have been among one of the league;s worst since the all-star break but it can all be sewn up if they can sneak into the playoffs where we have seen them thrive over the last six years. San Fran’s starting pitcher is still to be determined but whoever it is will be countered by Clayton Richard who is 3-3 with a 3.30 ERA.

The Padres haven’t had a great season and will finish the year around the 20 under mark as they are 65-89 heading into Sunday’s game at Petco Park. The Padres were able to find pitches from Bumgarner to connect on and as mentioned, three of them left the park with conviction yesterday and if they can continue to swing a hot bat they may deal the Giants a tough loss which would put a dent in their pursuit of chasing down the Dodgers for top spot in the National League West.
The Giants are 2-5 in their last seven overall, 3-8 in their last 11 against a lefty, and 1-4 in their last five against a team with a losing record while the Padres are 5-0 in Richards’ last five starts, 4-1 in their last five home starts from him, and 16-38 in their last 54 Sunday games. The Giants pitching is a mystery right now and while they got the win last night I think they could be in trouble here as the Padres have rallied when Richard is on the hill.
