The Toronto Blue Jays are hoping to stay in the Wild Card race when the New York Yankees visit.
The New York Yankees looked good right after the trade deadline but have been slowing. The slowdown continued in a 4-3 defeat at Toronto where the Yankees bullpen struggled. Yanks starter Michael Pineda gave up a run over 5.2 frames before Dellin Betances and Tyler Clippard allowed three runs over the 8th and 9th. The Bronx Bombers managed eight hits and walked twice with Didi Gregorius going deep while Mason Williams and Ronald Torrayes driving in runs. The Yankees turn to Luis Severino for his 21st appearance (eleven starts) when he faces Toronto. On the season, Severino has gone 3-8 with a 5.70 ERA over 66.1 innings.

The Jays mustered nine hits and six walks with Jose Bautista going deep and knocking in two while three players drove in runs and four scored. JA Happ toes the rubber against the rival Yankees for the 5th time this season. Happ has been on a roll with three consecutive victories where he has a 1.06 WHIP and 2.65 ERA.
