For Wednesday’s game, the Mets will be bringing out RHP Seth Lugo for the start. In his 16 games and seven starts with a 4-2 record, Lugo owns a 2.61 ERA with a 1.06 WHIP in 58.2 innings. Lugo took a no-decision his last time out against Philadelphia, putting up five innings with four hits and three runs.
It’s not hard to find the key hitters for the Mets. Asdrubal Cabrera leads the way on 144 hits with 65 runs, 23 homers and 61 RBI. Yoenis Cespedes has managed 133 hits with 70 runs, 31 homers and 86 RBI. Curtis Granderson sits on 120 hits with 84 runs, 30 homers and 58 RBI.
Over on the Marlins’ side, we’ll be seeing RHP Jose Urena on Wednesday. Urena has 27 games with 11 starts and a 4-8 record alongside a 5.95 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP this year. In a loss against Atlanta his last time out, Urena put up three innings with four hits and five earned.
The Marlins have some interesting hitters at their disposal as well. Martin Prado has bagged 179 hits with 68 runs and 73 RBI. Christian Yelich holds 165 hits with 75 runs, 20 homers and 95 RBI. JD Realmuto has hit 154 times with 60 runs and 48 RBI.
The Mets are 2-8 in their last 10 Wednesday games, and 4-0 in Lugo’s last four starts versus the NL East. New York is also 6-0 in Lugo’s last six starts, and 6-0 in Lugo’s last six starts on grass.
As for the Marlins, they’re 5-1 in their last six game threes of a series, and 4-12 in Urena’s last 16 starts. Miami is also 1-4 in Urena’s last five starts versus the NL East, and 1-8 in Urena’s last nine home starts.
I like the way Lugo is pitching right now as opposed to Urena, so I’m going to go with the Mets to take the victory here.
