The New York Yankees butt heads with the rival Boston Red Sox in Wednesday action.
The Boston Red Sox are just racking up the wins and it’s coming at a perfect time before the playoffs. After winning eleven in a row the white hot Boston Red Sox were cooled off for the night in a 6-4 defeat at New York on Friday night. Boston starter David Price was tagged for all six runs on 12 hits including three homers over 6.1 frames to drop to 17-9. The Red Sox banged out ten hits and walked three times with Aaron Hill going solo while Dustin Pedroia went 2-4 with two RBI’s and a run. The Red Sox hand the ball to Clay Buchholz Wednesday for his second start versus the Yankees in 2016. Buchholz comes off of a 5-1 win at Baltimore with a run scored in seven frames.

The New York Yankees are out of the playoffs but if they could knock off Boston they would be celebrating. The Yankees had dropped seven of ten before celebrating a win over their biggest rival. Yanks starter Luis Cesa allowed two runs through six innings before Tommy Layne allowed two runs to blow the save. The Bronx Bombers pounded out 13 hits and rode the long ball with Didi Gregorius, Tyler Austin and Gary Sanchez smacking home runs. With injuries it looks like Bryan Mitchell might start but I’m not sure.
The under is 6-1-1 in Boston’s last 8 overall and is 6-1-1 in Boston’s last 8 games following a win while the Red Sox are 20-6 in their last 26 overall. The Yankees are 7-3 in their last 10 games following a win and are 7-3 in their last 10 home games. Don’t really care for the pitching so may be over…
