The Minnesota Twins finish off their series at Kauffman Stadium versus the Kansas City Royals in Thursday action.
The Minnesota Twins never found traction this season and will try to figure out how to improve in 2017. The Twins were hoping for a little spark heading in to the final days of the season with the pen costing them late. Minnesota starter Ervin Santana allowing two runs over five frames before Taylor Rogers gave up three runs in the 7th. The Twins mustered eight hits and three walks with Kennys Vargas slamming a two run homer. Kyle Gibson gets the call to the mound Thursday to face the Royals for the third time in 2016. Gibson comes off a 10-1 loss to the Mariners with a pair of runs allowed over five innings.

The Kansas City Royals have hit a little hot streak although their postseason hopes are no more. Even though the Royals have nothing to play for they are still playing hard with four consecutive victories after a late scoring burst saved the day. KC starter Jason Vargas tossed five scoreless innings with Kevin McCarthy recording a blown save with two run scored before four 0relievers shutdown the Twins. Kansas City logged eight hits and three walks with Eric Hosmer smacking a two run homer while Alex Gordon knocked in two more. Danny Duffy toes the rubber against Minnesota for the third time on the season. Duffy was hit hard last time out in an 8-3 loss at Detroit with all six runs plated in 3.2 frames.
The under is 12-3-1 in Minnesota’s last 16 overall and is 12-3-1 in their last 16 on grass while the Twins are 5-17 in their last 22 road games. The under is 8-1 in Kansas City’s last 9 Thursday games and the over is 12-3 in their last 15 home games while going 7-2 in their last 9 during game 3 of a series. Kansas City are 9-1 in Duffy’s last 10 starts versus Minnesota and the Twins are 15-37 in the last 52 meetings. The Royals are playing as hard as ever and I find it tough to go against them….
