The Toronto Blue Jays head to Fenway Park to face the Boston Red Sox and lock up a Wild Card.
The Toronto Blue Jay’s own the first Wild Card so they decide their own fate. The Blue Jays had a chance to move closer to the first Wild Card but consecutive losses to the Orioles have the two teams tied. Jays starter Marcus Stroman fell to 9-10 with all four runs plated on nine hits and four free passes. Toronto was limited to three hits and three walks with Edwin Ebcarnacon walking and doubling. Marco Estrada is slated to open the series on the hill against the Red Sox on Friday. Estrada has been at his best the past two times out with a run allowed over 14 innings.
USA TODAY Sports
I don’t know if the Boston Red Sox are going to field a full or partial lineup with the division wrapped up and the playoffs approaching. The Red Sox have dropped three in a row following Wednesday’s 5-1 defeat at the rival Yankees. Boston starter Henry Owens gave up a pair of runs through 4.2 innings with Heath Hembree allowing two more. The Red Sox were held to four hits and a pair of base on balls with the lone run scoring on Xander Bogaerts 21st homer. I believe Rick Porcello is starting but I’m not sure.
The under is 20-6 in Toronto’s last 26 on grass and Toronto are 8-2 in Estrada’s last 10 road starts while going 11-5 in Estrada’s last 16 on grass. The over is 6-1-1 in Boston’s last 8 Friday games and Boston are 13-3 in their last 16 Friday games while going 8-2 in their last 10 games on grass.
You never know who is pitching or playing in these games but if Porcello is starting I’ll back him…
