The Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants kick off their final series of the regular season with plenty left on the line starting Friday night.
The Dodgers have wrapped up the NL West division crown and will be heading to the playoffs next week as they will take on the Washington Nationals but there is still something to play for as they can personally put an end to a wild card bid of their arch rivals with a strong series here against the Giants. Los Angeles is coming off a big time road win against the San Diego Padres last night and will be geared up for one last run at the Giants this weekend as this marks the end of Vin Scully’s illustrious career and what better way to go out than a series victory against their nemesis. The Dodgers will send Rich Hill to the mound here as he will face off against Madison Bumgarner in a pivotal show down that is quickly becoming a must win game for the visitors who are in the heat of a playoff race.

The Giants are playing at home this weekend in what is their last series before a potential wild card game and it only makes sense to see the Dodgers come to town in what should be an exciting three game set. San Francisco has had a horrible second half of the season but they can still make amends with a berth in the playoffs and with their track record as a wild card World Series winner they can certainly do the same here despite looking like an also ran on some nights. Bumgarner is 14-9 with a 2.75 ERA and he will look to improve on those numbers against Hill who is 12-5 with a 2.05 ERA as he has split time between the Dodgers and Athletics this season.
The Dodgers are 5-2 in their last seven games overall, 0-7 in their last seven against a lefty, and 5-1 in their last six against a team with a winning record while the Giants are 8-2 in Bumgarner’s last 10 on five days rest, 10-4 in his last 14 home starts, and 8-2 in their last 10 home games against a lefty. This is going to be a great series between two bitter rivals but the home side needs to win to keep their playoff hopes alive and with their race on the hill they get it done
