The Washington Nationals look to take a 2-1 lead in the NLDS when they visit the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday
The Los Angeles Dodgers had a chance to take a 2-0 series lead versus the Nationals but both their bats and arms struggling in game two. Instead the NLDS is tied 1-1 after a 5-2 defeat at DC as LAD starter Rich Hill allowed four runs on six hits and a pair of free passes over 4.1 frames to get the loss. Los Angeles managed eight hits and six walks with Corey Seager going solo while Josh Reddick drove in Justin Turner. Kenta Maeda toes the rubber for game three of the NLDS against the Nationals for his first career match up with Washington. In 2016, Maeda has gone 16-11 with a 3.48 ERA.

The Washington Nationals barely lost to Clayton Kershaw in their NLDS opener and a loss in game two would have had them in serious trouble. The Nats avoided trouble with the bullpen controlling the scoreboard with the bats also coming to life to even the series at a game apiece with Sunday’s game two victory. Nationals starter Tanner Roark gave up two runs on seven hits and three BB before five relievers put up zeros. Washington banged out nine hits and walked twice with Jose Lobaton cracking a three run bomb with Daniel Murphy going 3-3 with a run and a pair of RBI’s. Left hander Gio Gonzalez gets the ball in game three of the NLDS on Monday night. Overall, Gonzalez has gone 11-11 in 32 starts with a 1.34 WHIPA and 4.57 ERA over 177.1 innings.
