We have an interesting matchup at Dodger Stadium on Monday, as the New York Mets take on the Los Angeles Dodgers to kick off a four game set.
The New York Mets will look to build some momentum after snapping a three game losing skid with a 5-1 win over the Nationals in their series finale on Sunday. Michael Conforto led the team with a pair of RBIs while Curtis Granderson added an RBI of his own and starting pitcher Jacob DeGrom helped his own cause with a solo home run. T.J Rivera had a solid day at the plate himself, going a perfect 4 for 4 with a double, while Lucas Duda added a two-bagger of his own, going 2 for 3 at the dish. Travis D’Arnaud added a base hit of his own in the winning effort for the Mets. DeGrom was solid in the win, going eight strong innings, giving up just an unearned run on three hits while striking out six to improve to 6-3 this season. Zack Wheeler will start game one, and is 3-4 with a 4.48 ERA and 59 strikeouts this season. This will be Wheeler’s first career start against the Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to keep their momentum going after winning three straight to complete the sweep of the Cincinnati Reds, including an 8-7 win on Sunday to give the Dodgers their ninth win in their last ten games. Justin Turner led the charge by going 2 for 4 with a three run homer, while Logan Forsythe added a two run longball of his own and starting pitcher Kenta Maeda even helped his own cause by opening the scoring with a two run double. Joc Pederson added an RBI of his own, while Cody Bellinger and Enrique Hernandez added three combined doubles, with Hernandez logging a pair of two-baggers in the win. Austin Barnes also chipped in a base knock in the winning effort for L.A. Kenta Maeda got the win to improve to 5-3 this season, giving up just one run on three hits over five innings of work while striking out five for the victory. Clayton Kershaw will start game one, and is 9-2 with a 2.23 ERA and 105 strikeouts this season. In his career, Kershaw is 7-0 with a 1.29 ERA and 84 strikeouts against the Mets.
New York is 2-4 in their last 6 games overall and 4-8 in their last 12 home games while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall. Los Angeles is 4-0 in their last 4 home games and 9-1 in their last 10 games overall while the over is 8-1 in their last 9 games overall.
Uhhh, did you see Kershaw’s career numbers against the Mets? Yes please. I can’t go against Kershaw right now, and the Mets offense is way too inconsistent for me to feel comfortable backing them. I also can’t trust Wheeler to outduel Kershaw. There’s no way I’m laying -300 here, so I’ll take L.A. on the run line to try to get some value out of the bet.
