The Toronto Blue Jays go on the road to face the Texas Rangers in MLB baseball on Monday.
The Toronto Blue Jays look to move a step closer to reaching .500 and making themselves known in the American League East. The Blue Jays took a step in the right direction wit a 7-3 win versus the visiting White Sox that prevented a three game skid. Jays starter JA Happ gave up all three runs on eight hits and nine strikeouts over 6.2 frames to improve to 2-4. Toronto pounded out 13 hits and walked three times with Russell Martin and Kendrys Morales both going deep and driving in two while Troy Tulowitski scored twice. The Blue Jays send right hander Marco Estrada to the bump to oppose the Texas Rangers for the second time in 2017. Estrada has struggled the past three times out with 17 runs allowed on 28 hits including four long balls 12.2 innings pitched.

The Texas Rangers have been white hot the past several weeks as they try to get back in the American League West conversation. The Rangers took a step back from their goal in a 7-3 defeat to visiting Seattle on Sunday afternoon. Texas starter Yu Darvish was charged with five runs on eight hits and a walk through five innings of work to absorb the loss. The Rangers attack was limited to four hits and five bases on balls with Carlos Gomez clubbing a two run bomb but the team could not get a key hit for most of the game. Texas is scheduled to start rookie Austin Bibens-Dirkx against the visiting Rangers on Monday. Bibens-Dirkx won his first major league game by a 5-1 count at Washington with a run scoring on three hits and a free pass over seven innings of work.
Toronto are 6-2 in Estrada’s last 8 Monday starts and Toronto are 12-5 in Estrada’s last 17 starts on grass while the under is 7-3 in Estrada’s last 10 on grass. Texas are 7-1 in their last 8 overall and Texas are 7-1 in their last 8 games on grass while the over is 9-2-1 in Texas last 12 home games. Toronto are 13-4 in the last 17 meetings in Texas and the over is 5-2-1 in the last 8 meetings.
The Rangers have been the hotter team in this match up but have a young pitcher with virtually no experience going. On the flip side the Blue Jays are throwing Estrada who is struggling mightily but has faired well versus Texas. Sounds like this could be a mess…
