The Houston Astros seemingly have the American League West in their back pocket unless they fall off a cliff. The Astros had won seven of nine before cooling off for a night on Saturday as their big offense never got going. Stros starter Joe Musgrove was charged with all four runs on eight hits and a pair of free passes through five innings of work with three relievers tossing four scoreless frames. Houston was limited to seven hits and six bases on balls with Jose Altuve clubbing his 14th homer while Yuli Gurriel drove in Carlos Correa. The Houston Astros give Sunday’s starting assignment versus the Minnesota Twins to Mike Fiers. Fiers comes off of a 7-2 loss at the Toronto Blue Jays with three runs given up on five hits and four free passes while whiffing six over six innings of work.
Minnesota are 1-6 in their last 7 road games and Minnesota are 5-1 in Gibson’s last 6 road starts while the under is 4-1 in Gibson’s last 5 starts overall. The over is 20-4-2 in Houston last 26 Sunday games and the over is 15-5-1 in Houston last 21 overall while Houston are 10-4 in their last 14 Sunday games. The over is 9-1-2 in the last 12 meetings.
I’m not a fan of the pitching match up but I’ll back the dangerous offense of Houston…
