The Baltimore Orioles host the Texas Rangers in an MLB baseball tilt on Monday night.
The Texas Rangers need a miracle to catch the Houston Astros in the American League West but are right in the mix for a Wild Card. The Rangers were heading in the right direction with wins in five of six before falling 4-3 at Kansas City with their defense and late inning relief coming up short. Texas starter Yu Darvish gave up three runs (two earned) on eight hits and a walk over 6.2 innings for a no decision with Jason Grilli allowing a run in the 9th to absorb the loss. The Rangers managed seven hits and a base on balls with Mike Napoli and Drew Robinson clubbing solo homers. The Texas Rangers are slated to send Andrew Cashner to the mound on Monday for his second career start versus the Baltimore Orioles. Cashner defeated the Boston Red Sox 8-2 last time out with two unearned runs given up over seven innings of work.

The Baltimore Orioles have fallen off the pace in the American League East but are still within striking distance. The Orioles slide continued Sunday in an 8-0 defeat versus the Cubs in interleague action. O’s starter Ubaldo Jimenez dropped to 4-4 with six runs given up on eleven hits and a walk through 3.2 innings pitched while Darren O’Day gave up a pair of runs in the 9th inning. The Baltimore attack was limited to three hits and struck out 14 times with Adam Jones, Jonathan Schoop and Welington Castro recording hits. Chris Tillman toes the rubber for the Baltimore Orioles in the series opener versus the Texas Rangers who he last faced in 2016. Tillman comes off of a 6-4 loss to Tampa Bay with two runs scoring on seven hits and a pair of BB over five frames.
Texas are 1-7 in their last 8 Monday games and the under is 14-6 in Texas last 20 road games while Texas are 2-6 in Cashner’s last 8 road starts. Baltimore are 2-7 in their last 9 overall and the over is 10-4-1 in Baltimore last 15 home games while Baltimore are 16-36 in their last 52 games on grass. Texas are 8-3 in the last 11 meetings and Texas are 4-9 in the last 13 meetings in Baltimore.
The Rangers normally don’t fare well in Baltimore but I believe they are doing well enough to back them here…
