The Phillies have allowed 14 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in four of their last eight games. The Philadelphia Phillies have lost seven straight games when allowing at leas three runs. The Miami Marlins could use a win here after splitting their last 12 games. The Marlins have allowed 16 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in six of their last eight games. The Miami Marlins have lost 12 of their last 17 games when allowing at leas three runs. Offensively, Marcell Ozuna leads the Marlins with 111 hits and 70 RBI while Dee Gordon and Christian Yelich have combined for 200 hits and 62 RBI. Tom Koehler gets the ball, and he is 1-4 with a 8.00 ERA and 40 strikeouts this season. Koehler is 4-4 with a 3.43 ERA and 75 strikeouts in his career against the Phillies.
The Phillies are 12-27 in their last 39 Monday games, 7-20 in Eickhoffs last 27 road starts and 2-9 in Eickhoffs last 11 starts. The Marlins are 2-7 in their last 9 Monday games, 1-7 in Koehlers last 8 home starts and 3-15 in Koehlers last 18 starts. The Phillies are 0-4 in the last 4 meetings in Miami and the under is 12-5-3 in the last 20 meetings.
I have zero to no confidence in Koehler, who has pitched just twice since May and has an ERA of 8.84 at home. However, on the otherhand, the Phillies have won just two of Eickhoff's last 10 starts, and he has an ERA of 5.05 on the road. Not to mention the Marlins are hitting .307 against Eickhoff with three homers in 88 at bats. The Marlins are the better team here and if there's going to be a shootout due to poor pitchers, you have to give the edge to Miami due to the firepower in the lineup. I'll side with the fish to get their first win in the second half of the season.
