Kicking off a four-game set at PNC Park on Monday, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates will be meeting up in MLB action.
The surging Brewers are fresh off a set against Philly. Milwaukee won the first two games 9-6 and 3-2, then on Sunday the Brewers lost 5-2.

Milwaukee will be trotting out lefty Brent Suter for the start on Monday. In his 27.1 innings and 1-1 record this year, Suter has a 2.96 ERA with 25 Ks.
It’s not too hard to find the key hitters in the Milwaukee lineup. Coming out of the week, Travis Shaw led the way on 90 hits, 52 runs, 20 homers and 66 RBI, while Domingo Santana had 88 hits, 55 runs, 15 homers and 50 RBI. On Sunday, Santana managed a hit but Shaw whiffed 0-for-4.
Over on the Pirates’ side, they just finished up against the Cardinals. The two teams split the first two games of that set, then on Sunday Pittsburgh eked out a 4-3 win to take the series.
Pittsburgh will be going with RHP Chad Kuhl on Monday. In his 85.1 innings and 3-6 record this year, Kuhl has a 4.96 ERA with 69 Ks and 35 BBs.
Pittsburgh has a few notable hitters as well. Andrew McCutchen came out of the week with 95 hits, 57 runs, 17 homers and 50 RBI while Josh Harrison had 90 hits, 38 runs, 10 homers and 29 RBI. On Sunday, McCutchen had a hit and an RBI; Harrison scored a run.
The Brewers are 5-0 in the last five during game one of a series, and 1-4 in their last five Monday games. Milwaukee is also 1-4 in Suter’s last five starts and 0-4 in Suter’s last four road starts.
Meanwhile, the Pirates are 1-4 in their last five during game one of a series and 3-13 in their last 16 Monday games. Pittsburgh is also 5-12 in Kuhl’s last 17 starts and 0-4 in Kuhl’s last four home starts.
We’ve only got a few starts to examine Suter from, but in his last two outings he’s been great with two earned on three hits in 12.1 innings. As for Kuhl, over his last three starts he’s surrendered four earned in a total of 16.0 innings on 10 hits. This looks like a pretty nice pitching matchup and should be fun to watch. That said I’ll take the Brewers here since they’re playing pretty well these days.
