The Miami Marlins host the rival Philadelphia Phillies in an MLB baseball tilt on Tuesday.
The Philadelphia Phillies are trying to finish the second half of the season strong with the team likely looking at a few youngsters along the way. The Phillies offense looked good Monday but their pitching struggled in a 6-5, ten inning loss at Miami where starter Jerad Eickhoff gave up five runs on six hits and four BB including three homers over six frames before Mark Leiter took the loss with a run allowed in the 10th. The Phils mustered six hits and six free passes with Nick Williams going 2-5 with a pair of RBI’s while Cesar Hernandez, Freddy Galvis and Maikel Franco each drove in runs and scored. Philadelphia has not yet named a starting pitcher for Tuesday’s road contest with the rival Miami Marlins so stay tuned.

The Miami Marlins don’t have a lot of goals that are within reach but they do have a shot at finishing the year with a winning record. The Marlins took a step in that direction with Monday’s extra inning victory versus the division rival Phillies where they rallied from a two run deficit. Fish starter Tom Koehler was charged with four runs on four hits and three bases on balls through five innings of work before three relievers ended the game with an inning of scoreless baseball. Miami did their damage on seven hits and seven walks with Justin Bour cracking a two run bomb while Giancarlo Stanton homered twice and drove in three. The Miami Marlins have recalled Adam Conley from the minors to start against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies in game two of their series on Tuesday. Conley has made six starts and one relief appearance in 2017 and has gone 2-3 with a 7.53 ERA.
Philadelphia are 2-7 in their last 9 Tuesday games and Philadelphia are 13-40 in their last 53 road games while Philadelphia are 15-42 in their last 57 overall. The over is 6-0-2 in Miami last 8 Tuesday games and Miami are 14-6 in their last 20 home games. The under is 12-5-3 in the last 20 meetings.
Philadelphia has not listed a starter but there is a line out which makes no sense but for a pick I’ll go with the home squad…
