The Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox end their series in Thursday MLB baseball action.

The Toronto Blue Jays have not been able to get going for any length of time on a consistent basis in 2017. The Blue Jays woes continued Wednesday in a 5-1 defeat at Boston that saddled the team with defeats in five of seven. The arms and bats never got going with Toronto starter Aaron Sanchez allowing all five runs (three earned) on six hits and five free passes over four frames. The Blue Jays were held to four hits and five walks with Jose Bautista cracking a sacrifice fly that plated Miguel Montero. The Toronto Blue Jays end their road series with the Boston Red Sox with left hander Francisco Liriano on the mound. Liriano absorbed an 11-1 loss at the  Detroit Tigers last time out with five runs allowed on three hits and four BB in two frames.

The Boston Red Sox are sitting atop the American League East but their lead is not secure. The Red Sox are trying to create some separation from the rest of division and have been doing their part with wins in three of four following Wednesday night’s victory where both the pitching and offense came through. Boston starter Drew Pomeranz allowed an unearned run on three hits and five bases on balls over 6.2 innings pitched. The Red Sox totaled seven hits and five walks with Dustin Pedroia going 2-3 with three runs knocked in while Dan Marrero drove in two and scored. The Boston Red Sox have tabbed right hander Doug Fister for Thursday’s start versus the Toronto Blue Jays. Fister comes off of a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the New York Yankees where he gave up three runs on four hits and two walks over 2.2 frames.

Toronto are 7-2 in their last 9 road games versus a team with a winning record and the under is 41-19-3 in Toronto last 63 road games versus a team with a winning record while the under is 7-1 in Toronto last 8 Thursday games. Boston are6-2 in their last 8 versus a team with a losing record and the under is 5-0 in Boston last 5 versus a team with a losing record while the under is 5-0 in Boston last 5 overall. Toronto are 7-3 in the last 10 meetings in Boston and the under is 11-1 in the last 12 meetings in Boston.

I’m not real fond of this one but both hurlers have been putting men on base and if that happens Thursday the over will be threatened but for now very small on Toronto...
