The San Francisco Giants look for another victory here after splitting their last six games. The Giants have scored 10 runs in their last three games and four or more runs in four of their last eight games. The San Francisco Giants have won 12 of their last 19 games when scoring more than three runs. Buster Posey leads the Giants with 97 hits and 40 RBI while Joe Panik and Eduardo Nunez have combined for 170 hits and 55 RBI. Madison Bumgarner gets the ball, and he is 0-3 with a 3.18 ERA and 33 strikeouts this season. Bumgarner is 10-8 with a 3.38 ERA and 191 strikeouts in his career against the Padres.
The Padres are 5-16 in their last 21 vs. National League West, 4-1 in Chacins last 5 starts with 4 days of rest and 5-2 in Chacins last 7 starts. The Giants are 3-8 in their last 11 during game 1 of a series, 5-2 in Bumgarners last 7 home starts and 0-5 in Bumgarners last 5 starts. The Giants are 10-3 in Bumgarners last 13 home starts vs. Padres, the Padres are 16-37 in the last 53 meetings in San Francisco and the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.
Chacin has been really sharp recently, allowing three or less earned runs in nine straight games, but he has an ERA of 7.95 on the road this season. Bumgarner has yet to give the Giants a victory this season and of course has one start since April, but he's been more than manageable in each start and should have some of the rust off after pitching seven innings in his last outing. You can make a case for either pitcher here, especially with the Giants being so lousy, but it is Bumgarner at home we're talking about. Of course, I take the RL to increase the value of the bet.
