The New York Yankees open a series at the Seattle Mariners in Thursday MLB baseball.
The New York Yankees are right in the middle of the American League East race but they have not been able to string together wins. The Yankees still can’t get going after Wednesday’s 6-1 loss at Minnesota has the team looking at losses in three of four. Yanks starter Jordan Montgomery fell to 6-5 with all six runs scoring on seven hits and a base on balls over six frames. The Bronx Bombers managed seven hits and a pair of walks with Brett Gardner going 2-5 and driving in Clint Frazier with the only run. The New York Yankees begin their series with the Seattle Mariners with Luis Severino on the hill. Severino comes off of a 4-1 victory at the Boston Red Sox with the lone run given up on four hits and a pair of free passes over seven frames.

The Seattle Mariners won’t be winning the American League West but they are well within grasp of a Wild Card. The Mariners have been hanging tough in the Wild Card race with wins in six of seven following a 4-1 road win at the Houston Astros on Wednesday. M’s starter James Paxton gave up the lone run on six hits and a walk over seven innings to improve to 9-3. Seattle did their damage on six hits and a base on balls with Ben Gamel cracking a two run homer while Robinson Cano and Mike Zunnino recorded RBI’s. The Seattle Mariners open their series with the visiting New York Yankees with Felix Hernandez on the hill. Hernandez has won back to back outings after downing the Chicago White Sox 4-3 with all three runs allowed (one earned) on six hits in five frames.
New York are 6-13 in their last 19 road games and New York are 10-21 in their last 31 overall while New York are 10-21 in their last 31 games on grass. Seattle are 2-9 in their last 11 home games and Seattle are 10-4 in Hernandezs’ last 14 home starts while the over is 5-2-1 in Hernandezs’ last 8 Thursday starts. The under is 14-4 in the last 18 meetings in Seattle and the under is 23-7-3 in the last 33 meetings.
At the low odds I just think the home dog Mariners have decent value the way they are playing…
