For the Friday game, the Yankees will be bringing out lefty CC Sabathia. In his 84.0 innings and 8-3 record this year, Sabathia has a 3.54 ERA with 66 Ks and 32 BBs.
The Yankees have some solid hitters this year. Aaron Judge came into this set with 102 hits, 77 runs, 30 homers and 67 RBI, while Starlin Castro had 96 hits, 52 runs, 12 homers and 45 RBI. On Thursday, Judge managed a hit and an RBI; Castro whiffed 0-for-4.
On Friday, the Mariners will be bringing out RHP Andrew Moore. In his 24.0 innings and 1-1 record this year, Moore has a 5.25 ERA with 11 Ks and two BBs.
Seattle has some notable bats this year as well. Jean Segura brought 97 hits, 45 runs and 30 RBI into this series, while Nelson Cruz had 91 hits, 45 runs, 20 homers and 74 RBI. In Thursday’s game, Cruz had one hit; Segura did as well.
The Yankees are 3-7 in their last 10 Friday games, and 5-0 in Sabathia’s last five starts with four days’ rest. New York is also 4-1 in Sabathia’s last five road starts and 12-4 in Sabathia’s last 16 starts.
Meanwhile, the Mariners are 4-0 in their last four Friday games, and 3-8 in their last 11 during game two of a series. The over is 4-1 in the Mariners last five Friday games, and 44-19-3 in the Mariners’ last 66 home games versus a left-handed starter.
Sabathia gave up four earned in 2.2 innings against Toronto, but in three of his last four starts he’s given up zero earned over 18.0 innings. As for Moore, he gave up five earned in 3.0 innings in his last start, but in his other three he’s surrendered three in each. If Sabathia can keep it going here I think the Yankees can get a victory. Give me New York.
